Health Certificate (Valid for 10 days)

The pets have to be accompanied by a health certificate issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and countersigned by the State Vet. This certificate is valid for ten days from the date of issue.

Age Of Pet

Animals under the age of 3 months that are too young to have had their own rabies vaccination have to then travel on their mother’s rabies certificate. In this case you then need the mother’s valid rabies vaccination certificate. The mother must have a valid rabies vaccination – no less than 30 days old and no more than 12 months old.

If animal is over 12 weeks, they will require a rabies vaccination which is to be given at 12 weeks of age and not before 12 weeks. Animal then has to wait the required 30 days from date of vaccination before able to travel.

Microchip

Pets must be microchipped.

Rabies Vaccinations

Pets must have a Rabies vaccination that is older than 30 days, but not older than one year.

Normal Canine and Feline vaccinations

Annual canine and feline vaccinations are recommended. Kennel cough vaccinations and snuffles vaccinations for cats are also recommended, should your pet require boarding before or after they travel all reputable kennels would insist that you produce a valid vaccination certificate.

Age Of Pet

The animal has to be 7 months or older in order to travel to the EU, they have to have their own Rabies vaccination that they can receive at 12 weeks and their own Rabies Titre blood test that has to be at least 92 days old before travel.

Microchip

Pets must be microchipped; the microchip must be either implanted before the Rabies vaccination or with the rabies vaccination.

Should a microchip fail then a microchip has to be implanted again and the process started from the beginning. A new rabies vaccination would need to be given either on the same day or after the microchip implantation.

Rabies Vaccinations

Pets must have a Rabies vaccination that is older than 31 days, but not older than one year.

Three-year rabies vaccinations can be accepted depending on the manufacturer’s specifications, as long as the microchip was implanted before the vaccination was given. Please lease with one of our consultants so that they can check and confirm.

Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Titre Test

The blood sample must be taken at least 30 or 31 days after the rabies vaccination, No Less. Once this blood test has been done there is then a waiting period of three calendar months or 92 days from the date the blood sample was drawn.

Normal Canine and Feline vaccinations

Annual canine and feline vaccinations are recommended. Kennel cough vaccinations and snuffles vaccinations for dogs and cats are also recommended, should your pet require boarding before or after they travel all reputable kennels would insist that you produce a valid vaccination certificate.

Commercial and Non-Commercial Health Certificate

The pets have to be accompanied by an Official Third Country Veterinary Health Certificate issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and this Health Certificate must be stamped & signed by the SA State Vet.

The Non-Commercial Health certificate must be done within 5 days of travel. A Commercial Health Certificate has to be done within 48 hours of travel.

• Our clients will be supplied with the correct & filled in Heath Certificate.

Owners or an authorized person MUST travel on the same flight or within 5 days of the pet/s in order to have the non-commercial health certificate endorsed.

Should the owners or an authorized person or owner not be able to travel on the same flight or within 5 days of the pet/s a commercial health certificate can be used for travel. Kindly note that additional charges might apply should pets travel on a commercial health certificate.

Echinococcus (Tapeworm) Treatment

Dogs travelling to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Finland, Malta and Norway requires treatment for Echinococcus (tapeworm) 120 hours and not less than 24 hours before the time of scheduled entry. We do however recommend that this treatment is administered for dogs and cats travelling to the UK and all other EU countries.

Blood Tests required to apply for Import Permit

All Importers of dogs into Ghana are required to provide negative test results of the following diseases before an import permit would be issued.

Disease Test Required

1. Brucella Canis Serum Agglutination/Giemsa smear

2. Trypanosoma Evansi Card Agglutination/Giemsa smear

3. Babesia Gibsoni Giemsa smear

4. Dirofilaria immitis Microfilaria filtration test

5. Leishmaniaspps. Indirect Fluorescent antibody test or ELISA or Direct Agglutination test.

• Importers should note that a permit would only be issued if all the test results are negative.

Health Certificate (Valid for 10 days)

The pets have to be accompanied by a health certificate issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and this Health Certificate must be stamped & signed by the SA State Vet. The Health certificate must be done within 10 days of travel.

Microchip required prior to Rabies Vaccination ( can be done on the same day but microchip to be implanted first and then rabies. A veterinary letter confirming this is advisable ).

Rabies Vaccinations

All international destinations require a valid rabies vaccination for travel. Valid means that the vaccination must have been given no more than one year and no less than thirty days before the intended travel date.

Normal Canine and Feline vaccinations

The veterinary authorities are mainly concerned that the rabies vaccination is current. However it is important for your pet’s health that these vaccinations are given annually and it is advisable that these vaccinations be updated when necessary

Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Titre Test

A blood sample should be taken from all dogs and cats not less than 30 days after the rabies vaccination was given. The blood sample must be taken by an approved veterinarian and the serological test should be tested in an OIE approved laboratory. The result should state that the rabies neutralizing antibody titre was equal to or greater than 0.5 IU/ml. There is no wait time after the titre test results are received.

Health Certificate (Valid for 10 days)

The pets have to be accompanied by a health certificate issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and endorsed by the State Vet.

The health certificate has to be done within 10 days prior to arrival.

Import Permit

The importation of dogs and cats to Israel requires an import license issued by the Director of the Veterinary Services in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development only if there are more than two pets, if the pets arrive as manifested cargo, if the pet wasn’t in the owner’s possession at least 90 days prior their arrival in Israel, if the pet isn’t arriving with the owner and/or if the pet belongs to a dangerous breed.

Dangerous and Banned Breeds

There are no banned dog breeds in Israel.

The following breeds will need extra documents and requirements in order to enter Israel:

* American Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Amstaff)

* Bull Terrier

* Argentinean Dogo

* Japanese Tosa

* Staffordshire Bull Terrier (English Staff)

* Pit Bull Terrier

* Brazilian Fila

* Rottweiler

A cross with a dangerous breed that exhibits physical traits similar to those of a dangerous breed will be seen as a dangerous breed and will need to follow the same regulations.

According to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, a Bengal cat can’t be imported.

Extra Information

No person will import an animal unless through the following ports of entry: Ben Gurion Airport

The importer / owner is required to notify the Veterinary Services at the point of entry at least 2 working days prior to the pet’s arrival. The health certificate should be accompanied by a declaration by the owner that the animals had been in their possession at least 90 days prior to being brought into Israe

Age Of Pet

Puppies and kittens have to be older than 7 months. Puppies and kittens have to travel on their own valid rabies, annual vaccinations and Rabies Neutralization Antibody Titre Tests.

Microchip

Required prior or at the same time as Rabies Vaccination. it is recommended that microchip brands should confirm to the ISO standard.

Rabies Vaccinations

Dogs:

Have to be vaccinated against rabies when at least 3 (three) months of age and at least 6 (six) months before export, and less than 12 months. This is applicable for a primary and booster vaccination.

Cats:

Have to be vaccinated against rabies when at least 3 (three) months of age and within two to twelve months prior to export.

Normal Canine and Feline vaccinations

Normal Canine and Feline vaccinations are required.

Dogs:

• Canine distemper

• Canine parvovirus

• Infectious canine hepatitis

• Leptospirosis

Cats:

• Feline enteritis

• Feline rhinotracheitis

• Feline calicivirus

Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Titre Test

The pet must be accompanied by a laboratory result form, from a laboratory approved by the government veterinary authorities of the exporting country, stating that the animal was subjected to two neutralizing antibody titration tests at 3 months interval.

The second test must be performed at least 1 month and not more than 6 months prior to export and found to have at least 0.5 IU/ml of antibody in its serum. The laboratory result forms must clearly identify die animal to be imported using the microchip identification number of the pet. Blood collection for the first rabies test should be done at least 30 days and not more than a year following the last rabies vaccination.

Other Blood Tests For Dogs

Within 45 days prior to departure dogs has to be tested and found free of Erlichiosis using the indirect fluorescent antibody test and Brucella Canis using the slide agglutination test (microscopic agglutination test) with a negative result.

Import Permit

An Import Permit is required.

* Importation of the following breeds of dogs are not allowed into Mauritius:

• American Pit Bull Terrier

• Japanese Tosa

• American Staffordshire Terrier

• Dogo Argentino

• Staffordshire Terrier

• Fila Brasileiro

• Blue Nose Pit Bull

• Boerboel

• Red Nose Pit Bull

Post Arrival Quarantine

A minimum of one month quarantine is required should all the import requirements be met.

Health Certificate (Valid for 10 days)

The pets have to be accompanied by a health certificate issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and countersigned by the State Vet.

The pet has been treated by a long lasting insecticide (name must be indicated) against ectoparasites and they are free from external parasites at the time of export.

The health certificate has to be done within 48 hours of departure.

* Please note:

• Pets has to continuously be resident in South Africa for 6 months prior to export to Mauritius.

• All cats and dogs are to be sterilized before they can enter into Mauritius.

• If the pet is female, she may not be pregnant.

• The owner should register his/her dog with the Mauritius Society for Animal Welfare (MSAW) once arrived in Mauritius.

Puppies and Kittens under the age of 3 months (12 weeks) are too young to have had their own rabies vaccinations and have to then travel on the mother’s rabies vaccination. The mother has to have had a rabies vaccination that was current whilst being pregnant with the puppies or kittens in order to be deemed as being valid. The puppies or kittens must have a microchip implanted before any vaccinations are given.

Microchip

Pets must be microchipped, the microchip must be either implanted before the Rabies vaccination or with the rabies vaccination.

Rabies Vaccinations

All international destinations require a valid rabies vaccination for travel. Valid means that the vaccination must have been given no more than one year and no less than thirty days before the intended travel date.

We suggest that you check your pet’s vaccination certificate in good time, so as to ensure that there will be no problems when the time comes for your pet/s to travel.

Canine and Feline vaccinations

Annual canine and feline vaccinations are recommended. Kennel cough vaccinations and snuffles vaccinations for cats are also recommended.

Health Certificate (Valid for 10 days)

The pets have to be accompanied by a Namibian Inter-territorial Movement Permit issued by a private veterinarian certifying compliance with the above requirements and countersigned by the State Vet.

In general this certificate is valid for 7 days from the date of issue.

• Our clients will be supplied with the correct & filled in Heath Certificate.

Import Permit

Should the pet/s be originating from a country other than South Africa (e.g. non neighboring, the pet would be required to have an Import Permit also. This import permit can only be obtained in Namibia.

Cats and Dogs Entering South Africa from Namibia

Please take note of cats and dogs entering Namibia via South Africa from countries other than neighbouring countries have to first comply with the South African requirements.

Cats need to meet the following requirements to enter South Africa:

• Microchip

• Valid Rabies Vaccination. Valid means that the vaccination must have been given no more than one year and no less than thirty days before the intended travel date. We suggest that you check your pet’s vaccination certificate in good time, so as to ensure that there will be no problems when the time comes for your pet to travel.

• It is also important for your pet’s health to keep the standard feline vaccinations up to date. In addition, should your pet require boarding upon arrival all reputable kennels would insist that you produce a valid vaccinations certificate.

• South African Health Certificate (2 page) signed and stamped by the Government Veterinarian within 10 days of departure.

• Import Permit from South Africa. Valid for 6 months.

Your pet’s original documentation must travel with your pet, attached to its travel box.

Dogs need to meet the following requirements to enter South Africa:

• Microchip

• Valid Rabies Vaccination. Valid means that the vaccination must have been given no more than one year and no less than thirty days before the intended travel date. We suggest that you check your pet’s vaccination certificate in good time, so as to ensure that there will be no problems when the time comes for your pet to travel.

• It is also important for your pet’s health to keep the standard canine vaccinations up to date. In addition, should your pet require boarding upon arrival all reputable kennels would insist that you produce a valid vaccinations certificate.

• The 5 blood tests and two blood smears for the 5 diseases indicated in South African health certificate. For more information please contact our consultant.

• South African (4 page) Health Certificate signed and stamped by the Government Veterinarian within 10 days of departure.

• Import Permit from South Africa. Non quarantine import permit is valid for 6 months. Quarantine import permit is valid for up to 2 weeks.

• Your pet’s original documentation must travel with your pet, attached to its travel box.

• Dogs from quarantine rated countries will go to the South African Government Quarantine for up to 14 days upon arrival.

• Your pet/s should leave their country of origin with two sets of the documentation, one to enter South Africa and the second to enter Namibia (Namibia Import Permit and Namibia Health Certificate). Please bear in mind that the Namibia health certificate has to be valid when crossing South African – Namibia borders.

The Rabies Titre blood test can be done 31 days following a microchip and rabies vaccination. A blood sample must be collected from the dog or cat and must be send through to Onderstepoort for testing. The blood test must be between 92 days (3 months) and 730 days (24 months) old before export.

You will NOT require an Import Permit for your pets to enter Panama

Pet’s inoculations ( 5in1 for dogs and LEPTO, and Felocell for cats ) and Rabies vaccination needs to be up to date. The vaccinations need to be older than 30 days and less than 11 months. They also require a Micro-Chip

Puppies and kittens can travel on proof of mothers valid inoculations as above between the ages of 8 weeks to 12 weeks. Thereafter, they will need to have their own inoculations at 12 weeks and wait 30 days before entry into Panama

Pets also require a veterinary health certificate that is valid for 7 days and needs to be valid on arrival. It is recommended the health certificate to be completed by a Private Veterinarian 5 days before departure and endorsed by the State Vet 4 days before departure. This VHC ( veterinary health certificate ) then needs to be authenticated by the Panama Consular in Pretoria

It is advisable to use a clearing agent on the Panama side to clear your pets. We can assist in recommending an agent. All pets are to arrive between Monday and Friday. NO pets are to arrive over a weekend or public holidays
